My favourite crochet garment

Among all the pieces of garments that I have crocheted so far, the Tilda Shrug by Evelyn and Peter Crochet is definitely my favourite.

I randomly found a crochet kit for the Tilda shrug on the Lion Brand Yarn website last year and I was hooked instantly. I love the shape and the cute detail at the back so much that I couldn’t wait for the kit to arrive and start crocheting.

After a few weeks, the yarns finally arrived along with a cute postcard. Please note that I didn’t realize that the website offers global shipping, and I had the kit shipped through an international shipping service provider. This is why it took a few weeks. I might have to do some cross-checking to see which way is cheaper later, since I’m definitely buying more yarn from Lion Brand in the future haha.

As for the pattern, it is available for download from the Lion Brand Yarn website account in PDF format. Since I keep all my patterns in iCloud, it is very handy indeed. Everyone has their own way of organizing patterns, but I do recommend putting them in folders in cloud storage for easy access.

The pattern is very well-written and easy to follow along. It only took 10 days to finish, and I certainly didn’t crochet all day during that period. The time I had each day varied, and it was roughly 1 to 3 hours per day. For me, it is a quick and easy project. Every step was so enjoyable, and I just LOVE the outcome so much!

The shrug is perfect in every aspect. It has a beautiful drape with a feminine shape. Not to mention the lovely detail at the back. My hair blocks most of the beads in the middle, but you can still see some of them near my waist. You can refer to the photos shown in the websites as they show the details more clearly. I feel so pretty whenever I put it on haha. I love how it looks with skirts and dresses, but it would definitely go well with jeans and shorts too. It’s already getting hot in Hong Kong, so it’s gonna be nice company to help me survive the air conditioning.

I’m not that kind of crocheter who can make the same thing over and over again. I rarely make the same project more than once unless I really love it that much. However, I have already bought some new yarn in grey color and it’s one of my to-make projects this summer.

Please note that this post is not sponsored in any way, and I’m simply sharing one of my favourite projects and my personal experience with you. For those who are interested, you can look for the details in the links above for reference. The pattern uses Wool-Ease Recycled Yarn in cream color and calls for a 5.0mm crochet hook. If you already have the yarn or any substitution in your stash, the free pattern is also available on the Evelyn and Peter website.

Although I knew that shrugs are always a hit, I was not particularly interested in them before. Thinking back, not meeting ‘THE’ pattern yet could be the reason. I’m 100% sure the Tilda shrug is THE one for me since I’m now open to making more shrugs haha. Please comment down below if you have any cute shrug patterns to share!
