Hi everyone! How’s your summer going? I hope you’re having a lot of fun with your loved ones and yarn stash!
I can’t believe it’s been around 6 weeks since my last update! It’s refreshing to take some time off and I can’t wait to share with you some of my latest projects! In case you’re wondering, I actually took a break from crochet for about a month due to the pain from my wrists and hands since mid July.
Before the break, I was working on a bucket hat design and spent quite a lot of time crocheting and fine tuning the design. I was too excited at the time and got too eager to get the bucket hat done as soon as possible. I definitely crocheted for too long without proper rest. On some weekends, I even crocheted for more than 5 hours a day, not to mention that I also count on my wrists when working at the desk at work on weekdays. Therefore, I’m not surprised at all when I ended up getting pain from my wrists and hands. However, it’s not as worse as the pain I got in 2021 or 2022, so I knew I just needed some rest. Please don’t be like me though! Make sure you take regular rests and definitely stop crocheting when you start feeling pain.
I now feel better and started crocheting for a bit a few days ago. I’ve learnt my lesson so I’m taking everything slowly now haha. Besides, I don’t think I’ll have much time for crochet once the summer holiday is over. I haven’t mentioned it before but I’m actually working on a part-time degree programme. The upcoming academic year will be my final year. I can already foresee a busy year ahead but it’s the only year left! I can’t wait for it to finally ends and be ‘free’ (if you know, you know) haha.
Although summer is still in full force, I know fall will be here in no time. I guess now might be a good timing to start planning on my fall projects. Let me know if you have any favourite fall patterns!
P.S. The granny square shown in the photo above was made for a granny square contest at a local crochet gathering in late June. It’s my first time joining any crochet events and it was quite a new experience. Besides, the yarn was distributed randomly and it’s different from my usual color choices. I find this color combination pretty and I think I might need to make something with these colors someday : )
